Site Description(s):

The Hall of the Dead is both Falkreath’s only temple and home for both Runil, the priest of Arkay and Kust, who is responsible for looking after Falkreath’s cemetery.

The Hall of the Dead is a small gravesite located in the north end of the graveyard in Windhelm.

Hamvir’s Rest

Site Description:

Hamvir’s Rest is an above-ground tomb located at the foot of the south side of the mountain range between Whiterun and Hjaalmarch, northwest of Dustman’s Cairn. The alchemical ingredient nightshade grows in abundance among the gravemarkers.

There is a chance to encounter the Headless Horseman elsewhere in the game. If followed, he will lead the Dragonborn to this graveyard.

Ansilvund

Site Description:

Ansilvund is an ancient Nordic tomb of Fjori and Holgeir. It is currently being excavated by unknown individuals. Ansilvund is located northeast of Shor’s Stone and east of Cragslane Cavern in the Rift. Outside the entrance is a ruined stone tower. The entrance is a cave in the mountainside. Ansilvund is a large tomb filled with multiple traps.

Associated Quest(s):

A Love Beyond Death

This miscellaneous quest automatically starts about halfway through Ansilvund Excavation, when a room with a large fire pit with jagged edges in the center and a table on the left is entered.

Bleak Falls Barrow

Site Description:

Bleak Falls Barrow is an ancient Nordic tomb. It is a large temple that was built by ancient Nords to worship the dragons. It is one of many places where the ancient Nords had buried their dead, and as such, the Barrow is infested with aggressive draugr.

The exterior of the ruin is very impressive with its stone arches, and only a few other ruins, such as Ragnvald and Skuldafn, also have such impressive exteriors. The structures can even be seen from the map.

Associated Quest(s):

There may be a dragon perched on the arch outside the temple if the quest “Dragon Rising” has been completed, otherwise there will be a small number of bandits guarding the outer perimeter of the temple.

Bleak Falls Barrow

During the course of the main quest, Balgruuf the Greater will ask the Dragonborn to assist his court wizard Farengar Secret-Fire with his research into dragons. He wants the Dragonstone, an ancient tablet with a map of Dragon Burial Mounds, retrieved from Bleak Falls Barrow (the first ancient Nordic ruin to be discovered in the main questline).

The Golden Claw

Lucan Valerius, in the Riverwood Trader, may ask the Dragonborn to go to Bleak Falls Barrow and retrieve his Golden Claw, which was stolen by bandits, in return for some gold from an incoming delivery. This quest can be completed simultaneously with the Bleak Falls Barrow quest.

Fetch Me That Book!

Urag gro-Shub from the College of Winterhold may want the Dragonborn to fetch a particular book from Bleak Falls Barrow.

Trouble in Skyrim

A group of Draugr has been causing trouble in Falkreath. The Dragonborn has been asked to clear out Bleak Falls Barrow.

Sky Haven Temple

Site Description:

Sky Haven Temple is a landmark located in The Reach. After the quest “Alduin’s Wall,” it serves as the headquarters of the Blades.

Associated Quest(s):

The Dragonborn must venture to Karthspire, where they will meet Delphine and Esbern. After venturing past the Forsworn occupying Karthspire Camp, they can enter Sky Haven Temple, the last refuge of the Blades. It is here they find the Prophecy of the Dragonborn, carved unto Alduin’s Wall.

Dustman’s Cairn

Site Description:

Dustman’s Cairn is an ancient Nordic barrow northwest of Whiterun, in the central tundra of Whiterun Hold. From Whiterun, head west past the Western Watchtower until reaching Fort Greymoor, then head north until locating it. The entrance is blocked until the Companions quest, ‘Proving Honor’ has been activated. It contains two zones: Dustman’s Cairn and Dustman’s Crypt.

The Dragonborn must retrieve a fragment of Wuuthrad from Dustman’s Cairn.
